Say “adios” to Netflix, Dora. Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer, along with several other Viacom series, is no longer on Netflix. The streaming service decided to not renew its broad contract with Viacom this month, so Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob Squarepants, and other popular Nick series recently ceased being available for instant viewing.
But this doesn’t mean Netflix has lost its babysitting abilities. There’s still a “Just for Kids” tab on the site that leads to plenty of streaming family-friendly shows, including Cartoon Network series like Powerpuff Girls and Adventure Time, PBS shows including Sesame Street and Arthur, and superhero fare, like The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Batman Beyond.
There is also lots of Disney content on Netflix, thanks to recent expansions of deals between the two companies. Among the House of Mouse series available to view instantly on Netflix are Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, Tron: Uprising, and Jake and the Never Land Pirates — plus feature films like Pocahontas, Dumbo, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Select episodes of SpongeBob Squarepants and other Nickelodeon series (but not Dora the Explorer) continue to be available on Hulu Plus.
